Last year, the redesign of the entrance of the school commenced. The aim was to create a statement that acknowledged our history whilst emphasising our continuous journey as a Christ-centred and Child Focused Learning Environment.
A range of styles and works were discussed before approaching painter and sculpture Janine Daddo for some concept drawings. The history of our patron Saint, St Francis Xavier, the Presentation Sisters and the need to reflect a contemporary school that is child focused was a starting point.



Nano Nagle
The lantern recognises our schoolβs deep connection to the Presentation Sisters and Nano Nagle. The Presentation Sisters were instrumental in providing education to remote and regional schools, including the first Principal of St Francis Xavier, Sister Mary Agnes Griffin.
St Francis Xavier the Missionary
The boat recognises our Patron Saint and Missionary, St Francis Xavier. St Francis travelled the world proclaiming Godβs word and introducing people to the person Jesus. He was one of the first seven members of the Jesuit order and travelled extensively, particularly in India, Southeast Asia, and Japan, to share his faith.




The Tree of Light
The Tree, with the cross-radiating light, encapsulates our school motto β Christ is my light. We know that Christβs love is for all who attend St Francis Xavier, and with Christ as our light all human values will find fulfillment and harmony.

The Flowers and Children
The flowers are based on local flora, recognising the traditional owners of land we gather on, the Aboriginal people, and the important role we play in working together in harmony.
And the children. In various poses and locations underpin our school community. As a school that is Christ-centred and Child Focused our children underpin all the decisions we make as a learning community.



The installation reminds us of the people who are fundamental to our history, and aspires us to not only follow in their footsteps back to make new paths that the St Francis Xavier community can all be proud of.
