In 2023, the decision was made to adapt our Athletics Carnivals to ensure all students had the opportunity to participate in three main events. Starting with Cross Country, followed by Jumps and Throws and culminating in last week’s Athletics Carnival. Although a major undertaking, providing all students with the authentic experience of competing in each event was a key focus in 2023 and one we can all be proud of.
Deliberately held in the Chapman River Regional Park, the event provides an authentic and challenging cross-country experience. Rocks, hills, and soft sand are natural elements that make this a gruelling event. Students develop perseverance and resilience whilst supporting their peers amongst the picturesque backdrop of the Chapman River.
Jumps and Throws
In 2023, all students had the opportunity to participate in the Jumps and Throws carnival. The carnival was a celebration of athleticism and friendship. Budding athletes joined for a day of spirited competition to showcase their jumping and throwing prowess in a variety of disciplines, including long jump, triple jump, javelin, and tee-ball throws.
Thank you to the numerous parent helpers over the course of the four days. Setting up tents early in the morning, measuring jumps and throws, place getters and ensuring students’ safety on the cross-country course. You play a crucial role in creating an environment where all students can achieve a vibrant school community. Thank you.
Thanks to the staff at St Francis Xavier for your unwavering dedication and commitment to our students’ growth and learning. Your tireless efforts made for a successful series of events where all students could participate and achieve success. Great job.
Congratulations to the champion athletes! Your dedication, skill, and determination ensured individual success, but your support of your peers strengthened our community. Well done on your performances.
