School Advisory Council

The Advisory Council is established to support the Principal to fulfil their responsibilities
in leading the Catholic Identity, Education, Community and Stewardship functions of
the Catholic school in pursuit of CEWA’s vision to be Christ-centred and child-focused.

Modelling our actions on the example of Jesus
who came to serve, not to be served.

The council is responsible not only to the local school community, but also to the Catholic Education Commission of WA . It is also entrusted with the duty of planning, on behalf of the school community, with the school staff (through the Principal) and with the Commission to meet the present and future needs of students.

At the beginning of each school year a council is inducted and commissioned. Council members are supported by the Catholic Education Office of WA, and are given access to training and appropriate information courses.

The role of the School’s Council is one of setting the long term future for the school and in providing additional expertise to help the school achieve the best outcome for every student.

Taking on a position with the School Council is a wonderful way for parents to get involved and help shape the school. In addition to the normal Executive roles, the School Council also appoint a range of sub-committees, giving parents a chance to utilise their business expertise or other specialisations to ensure a rewarding and bright future for our students.

The School Council  has 10 members consisting of six parent representatives that are elected for a three year term at the Annual Council Meeting, a P & F Representative, a St Francis Xavier Parish Representative, the School Principal and the Parish Priest.

The School Council meets once a term and communicates its activities to the school community at the ACM.

If you think you can benefit the school by being part of the St Francis Xavier School Board, please contact the School (admin@sfx.wa.edu.au).

The School Council asks that you continue to pray for and support the Principal, teachers and support staff who all work to make St Francis Xavier such a positive learning environment for our children.
