Our Leadership Team

Justine Smith

Principal

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as the Principal of St Francis Xavier Primary School. Having previously worked within this nurturing community, I am truly blessed to return in this leadership role and continue serving a school that holds great meaning to me.

I have been a part of Catholic education for over twenty five years and my recent experiences include teaching and leadership roles in both primary and secondary in Mandurah.

At St Francis Xavier, our guiding light is Christ, as reflected in our school motto, “Christ is our Light.” This profound message inspires us daily as we strive to embody the teachings of Jesus in every aspect of our school life.

Our staff are committed to fostering an environment where relationships, positivity, academic excellence, and Gospel values are at the core of everything we do. We believe that strong relationships—between students, staff, and families—create a foundation for success, ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

Our dedicated team of educators work tirelessly to provide a rich and engaging learning experience that nurtures both the mind and the heart. Through high-quality teaching, a focus on student well-being, and a commitment to faith-filled learning, we strive to empower our students to become confident, compassionate, and capable young people who live out the Gospel in their daily lives.

Our school values of compassion, honesty, respect, inclusivity, and self-control are at the heart of our community. We aim to cultivate these values in our students, helping them grow into compassionate, honest, and respectful individuals who act with integrity and kindness in all they do.

As we journey together, I am committed to working in partnership with our staff, families, parish, and the broader community to create a welcoming and faith-filled environment for all. It is my goal to ensure that St Francis Xavier remains a place where every student is empowered to shine their light and make a positive impact in the world.

I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our school and the many opportunities available to our students. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to connect further.

Together, guided by Christ’s light, let us make this year one of growth, joy, and shared purpose.

Kind regards,
Justine Smith

Judi Hollands

Assistant Principal (Administration, Curriculum, Teaching and Learning)

I am incredibly honoured to be part of the St Francis Xavier community. Originally from Perth, my passion for innovation and
education has driven me to explore diverse teaching experiences, working with students from Kindergarten to Year 7 in Northampton and Geraldton.

Beyond the classroom, I have had the privilege of mentoring early career teachers and administrators across the State as an educational consultant for the Catholic Education Office of WA. Since 2016, I have been part of the Leadership Team at St Francis Xavier, where I continue to foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.

St Francis Xavier is a vibrant hub of learning where students are encouraged to think critically, embrace new technologies, and support one another in achieving their best. Our staff work together to create an engaging educational environment that nurture student wellbeing, inspires curiosity, and challenges everyone to grow.  From scientific exploration and digital technologies to public speaking, performing arts, interest clubs and sporting achievements, we empower students to discover their passions and develop a love for learning.

I look forward to another exciting year of inspiring growth, creativity, and success within our school community.

Kind Regards
Judi Hollands

Simon Place

Assistant Principal (Mission and Identity)

I am delighted to once again be part of the St Francis Xavier community. Having spent 11 years teaching at the school it is a joy to return as Assistant Principal – Mission and Identity.

During the last three years, I have worked with schools throughout the Diocese as the Religious Education Consultant, providing support to teachers on how to develop all aspects of their teaching in this key learning area.

Here at St Francis Xavier, we are blessed to have a strong charism based on the work of our founders, the Presentation Sisters.  We aim to foster this rich background through our practices and to continue forward with a Christ Centred, Child Focused approach.

At St Francis Xavier, we are honoured to partner with St Francis Xavier Parish in preparing our Baptised students for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. These community events form a key element of the Religious life of the school along with the opportunities provided for whole school faith participation.

As Assistant Principal, I look forward to working with the whole school community to develop the well-being and faith formation of all, ensuring this is a great place to learn.

Kind regards,
Simon Place
